A 19th-century masia set in 5 hectares of national park — the building, the gardens, the land, and what surrounds it.
Font de L’Oca is a 19th-century Catalan country house (masia) that not only features art nouveau elements but also includes private access to 5 hectares of national park that includes three natural springs, a forest, and a 20m tall protected tree. It is both a cultural and an environmental gem.
Font de L’Oca, named for one of the springs on the property that is shaped like a goose, is based in Les Masies, close to the towns of l’Espluga de Francoli and Poblet, the latter famous for its Cistercian monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site crucial to the medieval history of the region.
Font de L’Oca sits on the outskirts of the forest of Poblet (Paratge Natural de Poblet) and holds incredible ecological and natural value. On site there are ravines that are thought to contain silver deposits (barranc de l’argentada), springs that are thought to contain medicinal properties due to the mineral composition in the water (Font del ferro and 1903s Font de L’Oca), a hazelnut grove, an area known as the forest of the goblins due to the size of the cedar trees, and a 4m round and 20m high cedar (Cedre de la Masia de la Font de l’Oca) that has been designated as protected and is catalogued in the Catalunyan Plantipodes-AM catalogue.
There are three buildings on site:
Since purchasing the property in 2026 we have been lovingly restoring the buildings and the land. We have been working with a dedicated, local architectural team, to preserve the original 19th century elements and character, while also modernising for comfort to create a space that nurtures wellbeing for person, community and land in a holistic and symbiotic way. Over time we hope to rehabilitate the land (the hazelnuts are not doing so well) and add to it in a way that enhances the biodiversity and ecological beauty of the space. We also hope to create a tree trail, a sensory and walking garden, a vegetable garden and an outdoor spa area. For more information about the renovation journey sign up for our newsletter or follow us on youtube and instagram.
At Font de L'Oca we prioritise using seasonal, local ingredients and products, and where possible we use produce grown on the property, committing to the 0 KM pledge. Meals are nourishing rather than elaborate.
Water is sourced from the springs on site and filtered to the highest degree.
Warm and cold drinks (teas, water, light refreshments) are available at all times at the self-serve bar, along with a rotating selection of snacks.
Font de l'Oca is designed for a full range of experiences — from the deeply still to the actively exploratory. Every space has been considered. Every activity is optional.
A dedicated 8×10 m practice space for yoga, movement, breathwork and group workshops — equipped with mats, blocks, bolsters and a sound system. Formerly a 19th-century ophthalmologist's office, it has natural daylight on all sides and accommodates up to 12 comfortably.
A sheltered outdoor space set within the gardens — flat, level and naturally beautiful — purpose-suited for open-air yoga, breathwork, meditation and movement. When the weather is kind (often), this is where sessions feel most alive.
The walking garden, sensory garden and tree trail wind through the 20,000m² of grounds. Self-guided audio available via QR code. A restorative hour at any pace.
Direct access to the Paratge Natural de Poblet — ancient forest, ravines, and mountain paths for every level. Bicycle hire available for wider exploration.
A curated library for reading and reflection. Sensory and quiet rooms available for those needing stillness, restoration or simply somewhere to think without interruption.
Views across the Conca de Barberà valley. Ideal for sunrise sessions, sunset gatherings, star-gazing and everything in between.
Daily shared activities — helping in the garden, foraging, yoga, breadmaking, pasta, mindfulness, crafting — some guided by us, some led by guests. Always optional, never obligatory.
Font de l'Oca sits in one of the most beautiful and least-visited valleys in Spain. Ancient monasteries, medieval wine towns, mountain trails, and the extraordinary stillness of a landscape that has barely changed in centuries.
A UNESCO World Heritage Cistercian monastery just 2km from Font de l'Oca. Founded in 1150, it remains one of the finest examples of medieval religious architecture in Europe — and is still an active monastery today. Visits arranged on request.
The Sierra de Prades rises directly behind the property. Trails leave from the estate through ancient forest, offering walks at every level of difficulty. The views across the Conca are extraordinary — wide, quiet, and largely uninterrupted.
The Conca de Barberà is a Catalan DO wine region, known for its white wines, its garnacha, and its extraordinarily old vines. Vineyard visits and tastings can be arranged. The olive oil produced here is among the finest in Spain.
The medieval walled town of Montblanc is 8km away — a beautifully preserved example of 14th-century Catalan architecture, with a Saturday market, independent restaurants, and a quiet sense of time passing slowly.
Another UNESCO-listed Cistercian monastery, 25 minutes from Font de l'Oca. Together with Poblet, it forms part of the Cistercian Route — an ancient pilgrimage path through the vineyards and valleys of Catalonia.
The Mediterranean coast — the Costa Daurada — is 45 minutes by car. Quiet coves, traditional fishing towns, and the sea. A different rhythm from the mountains, and a perfect half-day away from the estate.
Only a little over an hour away from Barcelona, Font de l'Oca can often feel like a world away. Removed from the stresses of the modern world, we offer opportunities to step back from the hustle and bustle of life, to reconnect to nature. Please keep in mind that the road to the house benefits from a robust car.
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes via the AP-2 motorway. Take exit 8 (L'Espluga de Francolí). Free parking on site. Recommended for groups of 3 or more.
